Bomba Nurmes

Bomba Nurmes

This weekend we visited a spa hotel Bomba in Nurmes. I remember visiting it as a teenager ten years ago. Recently it has been purchased by the S-Group and it has gone through some changes. It has a whole new spa facility. The spa is mostly famous for its outdoor jacuzzi with views on the Pielinen lake. And I can see why.

The spa doesn't differ that much from the one in Koli, if you happen to know what it is like. It has the same foot bath area, different steam/hot/cold water showers, three kinds of sauna, hot and cold water pools and jacuzzis. The only major difference is that there is also a large basic swimming pool and a pool for kids. The latter is especially convenient for families with kids like us. Even though, we were staying without our toddler this time, we would definitely come back there with kids. It seems that there is something for everybody in there.

Both the hotel and the spa have this "new" vibe about them, which I enjoy very much. in the morning we even did a little photo session in our room.

The area around the hotel is an old Karelian village with the main sight - the Bomba House. the sun was shining and we took a nice walk aroud the place.

The town of Nurmes feels otherwise like a ghost city, but it has a picturesque street with some old houses. Kinda like Porvoo of the Eastern Finland.

We had a very good time in Bomba and we are going to come back.
